– For the cake:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add in the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

3. Pour in the boiling water and stir until the batter is smooth.
