Glorious BOEUF BOURGUINON – Dutch Oven Recipe Street Food




Boeuf Bourguignon is a classic French beef stew that has been enjoyed for centuries. This hearty and comforting dish is perfect for cold winter nights or when you need a comforting meal. This recipe uses a dutch oven, which is a great tool for cooking stews as it allows for even heat distribution and can go from stovetop to oven with ease.

Ingredients:
– 2 lbs. beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
– 6 strips of bacon, chopped
– 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
– 1 large onion, chopped
– 3 large carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
– 1 cup red wine
– 2 cups beef broth
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tsp. dried thyme
– 2 bay leaves
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
– Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. In a dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside.

3. Season the beef with salt and pepper, and then coat it in flour. Add the beef to the dutch oven and cook until brown on all sides, about 5-8 minutes. Remove the beef with a slotted spoon and set aside.

4. Add the onion and carrots to the dutch oven and stir for about 5 minutes until the onions are translucent.

5. Add the red wine to the dutch oven, scraping the bottom to release any browned bits. Add the beef broth, garlic, thyme, bay leaves, and the reserved bacon and beef.

6. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover the dutch oven and place it in the oven for 2-3 hours or until the beef is tender.

7. About 30 minutes before the beef is finished, sauté the mushrooms in a separate pan until tender, about 10 minutes. Add the mushrooms to the dutch oven and mix well.

8. Once the beef is cooked, remove the bay leaves and season with salt and pepper if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
