Instructions:

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 F (176 C). Then, in a medium bowl add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and stir with a fork until combined. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar with an electric mixer.

Add the eggs and beat until combined, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined. With the mixer still on low, slowly add in the dry ingredients.

Once combined, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir with a rubber spatula. Place 2-3 tablespoons of the chocolate chips in separate bowl (as topping).

On parchment paper lined baking sheets, scoop out one tablespoon of dough and roll lightly to form a ball before placing it on the cookie sheet. Because the dough will spread while baking, make sure to leave enough space between each cookie.

Sprinkle the extra chocolate chips on each cookie. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes. Leave the cookies on the baking sheets for another 3-4 minutes and then remove them to a wire cooling rack. Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container.
