Mango Cafe Ubud, a little gem in the quiet part of Ubud.

For me, Ubud always has its own charm, a perfect layback small town rich with its nature and cultural heritage. Also, it’s only around 1 hour trip from Denpasar, and you’ll find totally different scenery. Sets amid the lush ravines, green emerald foothills, and terraced rice paddies, you’ll feel different vibes compared to other touristy areas in Bali.

And as for our trip, this time we visited a newly opened cafe called Mango Cafe Ubud, sets as part of their Mango Villa. The location itself is slightly secluded, in the Tampaksiring shortcut area surrounded by lush greeneries and rice paddies. With an open-air concept, we can feel the breezy air flowing through the cafe, a nice place to relax and enjoy Ubud’s natural beauty.

Food

For the food itself, they create a range of classic comfort food with a twist. The food was made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients, with options from the Western menu to local Indonesian taste.

One of their breakfast menus is The Big Morning. As it says on the name, this breakfast menu comes in big portions, it consists of eggs, sourdough, sausage, hash brown, mushroom, etc, served with creamy tarragon sauce. It’s a hearty fulfilling breakfast menu like we can find in Canggu cafes, but you can enjoy it without the traffic & busy crowded Canggu ambiance.

The next menu we had is a staple of Manadonese cuisine, Chicken Woku. The chicken was cooked with herbs & spices that create rich aromatic flavor. Here, the spices were slightly toned down but really don’t reduce the richness of the flavors and are not as spicy as the authentic ones, but yet it is still well delivered and tasty. And instead of serving it with plain steam rice, they made “risotto-inspired” garlic rice. As for personal taste, I really like this menu.

Aside from the two menus, we mention above, we also tried their Caramelized Chicken Burger, filled with a crispy chicken patty, homemade fried and pesto; and Southern comfort food Waffle Crispy Chicken, with its sweet, savory, and aromatic herbs combination.
