Conveniently tucked in the heart of Ubud, Warung Nia Ubud has become part of Ubud’s culinary that focusing on authentic Balinese food along with some Western and Asian food prepared using fresh and organic ingredients.
As we first arrived we find this restaurant was a bit small and crowded, but their friendly staff mention that they have another dining area downstairs, so we prefer the one below and find it quieter, breezy and comfortable compare to the one upstairs.
Unlike the above dining area that has street view, their below dining area was facing a lush bamboo tree which I find more relaxing, with several big windows that brings some breezy air inside the restaurant.
So we start our lunch with some Asian selections like their Vietnamese Spring Roll that was filled with crunchy and fresh vegetables, as for the dipping sauce I find it a bit unusual for me because they use peanut hoisin sauce, while most Vietnamese Spring Roll I found usually use sweet and sour sauce; however, it works and I like it :).
Stir Fry Ahi Tuna is one of our favorite menus, this ahi tuna was double cooked, first they fry it then cooked with some oriental sauce, and served with yellow pilaf rice and stir-fry vegetables as the result is tasteful and comforting flavors.
My husband and I are carnivores 🙂 so we would opt for something meaty, we had their Nia Style Beef Burger! Don’t expect a gourmet burger taste in this burger, but more to comfort and homey flavor in every bite. Juicy beef patty between those toasted buns, topped with bacon, onion ring, cheese, caramelized onion, pickled and smothered in chili aioli; clearly, nothing could go wrong with that, right?
Overall for us, the food they serve have comforting taste, and each ingredient and sauce in each dish was really complementing each other. I think next time I gotta try the Balinese food, because not only they are known for their food, Warung Nia Ubud also have a cooking class that specialized in Balinese cuisine.
If you’re strolling around in Ubud center and want to try this restaurant, you might have to look carefully for the signage because the road was packed with lots of restaurants and signage. If you go by car, it might be a bit tricky to park a car here, you can go to Puri Lukisan and give them some money to park your car there, or just go a bit further at the central parking at Jalan Suweta and walk from there. Either way, it’s still always fun to take a walk in Ubud.
