We recently visit a new restaurant at jalan Batu Belig, it’s an Italian restaurant called La Gastronomia. What so great about La Gastronomia? Well, they made their sauces and pastas from scratch, all fresh with authentic Italian recipes.
The restaurant itself is quite vast with a big parking lot (yes, in Bali having a parking lot really matters :)), it have nice ambiance for family dinner, date or even just for a casual meeting. And for family with little active kids, they have a garden seating area at the back so the little explorer can run freely.
They had quite wide range of selections here, from appetizers, pastas, pizza, meat selections, soups, Panini (Italian sandwiches) and great Italian desserts. As a starter we had their Parmagiana di Melanzane (60K), it was a stacked of sliced eggplants, tomato sauce, mozzarella, eggs and Parmesan cheese; layered like a lasagna. For someone who doesn’t like eggplants, I really like this dish and my son would eat it without hesitation and still didn’t know it was eggplants haha. As a starter I found the portion was quite big, so it suits for sharing.

From the pasta section we opt for something bodied so we pick their Tonnarelli Neri Allo Scoglio (75K), its black squid ink pasta, cooked with mussels, clams, prawns, calamari in tomato cherry and white wine sauce. The pasta cooked perfectly with full bodied sauce rich in tomato and mixed seafood stock that create some robust flavors.

While I really enjoy my pasta, my husband really into his juicy veal, the dish called Scaloppine di Vitello (88K). It was veal escaloppe served with mixed salad, French fries, mushroom sauce, lemon sauce and red wine sauce. The result was deliciously tasty, creamy, tender and juicy meat.

As for the little ones, no doubt they will love to have some pizzas. We pick Prosciutto e Fungi (R 73K/ S 39K), this one definitely wins my son’s heart; it’s a delicious thin crust pizza topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, cooked ham and mushroom.

Time to close our dinner with some perfect closure.. Dessert it is 🙂 .. We had their Pannacotta al Cocco (35K) it was a silky smooth, exotic and sweet coconut pannacotta, their pannacotta is not too sweet that’s why it really suits me 🙂

So when you’re craving for some authentic Italian food, La Gastronomia definitely can be an option. I hope this post makes you drool, because I do 🙂
