Night time in Ubud really gives a different atmosphere to this classic and cultural town. The busy Ubud center has turn into a quiet area; most of the shops have closed, no more busy market selling all kinds of clothes and souvenirs. But most of the restaurants and cafes are still open so where we can enjoy the lovely dinner time.
One of the cafe we visit while we’re in Ubud is Watercress Malam, located in the heart of jalan Monkey Forest. In here they serve the same menu with what they had in Batubelig, all rustic and fresh also not to mention their wonderful cocktail creations that suits to accompany the cool and breezy Ubud weather.

They have some Asian inspired menu that we’re excited to try, we picked some items from their starters sections start with their Tempura Spring Veggies (55K) this crunchy goodness consist of paprika, zucchini, broccoli, eggplant and many more all coated with crispy tempura batter served with wasabi mayo and soyu.

Still from the starter we also try their Tuna Tataki, Nori & Watercress Salad (70K) it’s a lightly seared fresh tuna crusted with crushed black pepper and sesame seed not only it gives some crunchy sensation but also strong spicy pepper flavor and with wasabi mayo that complement the flavors. If you love spicy food, they have Sticky Sweet Chili Pok Pok Chicken Wings (65K) it’s a fried chicken wings cooked in a thick sauce with quite a balance flavor combination between sweet, spicy and a bit zesty with some herbs on it.

As for the main course, they have some delicious selections either it’s from the sea, the farm or their fresh and tasty vegetarian menu. Well since we’re going Asian that night so I caught my eyes on their Thai Beef Salad (110K), don’t be fooled by the name this salad has a generous portion and as for the beef not the kind of salad with few slice of beef but it was lavishly filled the whole bowl. I’m in love with this salad; it has the spiciness, aromatic herbs also with fresh mint and Asian basil leaves that really brings out the exotic Asian flavors.

From the sea section we also choose Fish Monger Marinated Mahi-mahi (95K) well this wasn’t an Asian inspired menu but it was a simple yet delicious. A plate of grilled mahi-mahi fillet served with hand cut chips, tartar sauce, and grilled sweet corn on cob and salad.
Thank you Watercress Ubud for the enjoyable family dinner!! It was a great way to spend our evening in Ubud style.
