Café Review: Milk & Madu, Canggu

#Bali Milk & Madu located in jalan Pantai Berawa, I’ve been here several times and the tables are always full. It’s a good place for brunch, to spend your time to catch up with friends and family, casual meeting with colleague or even just enjoying a quiet moment for yourself.

I love the open concept of the café, using traditional Javanese house called Joglo. The structure has no walls only using several columns to support the roof which gives a good air circulation, even it’s a hot day outside but it’s still cool inside the café.

How about the food? Hmm all I can say that IT’S ALL GOOD!! I love that they use fresh ingredients for all their food and beverages. Here are some tasty food that we’ve tried:

Burrito (75K) this 2 rolls of burrito consist of scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, corn salsa, cheddar, avocado and sour cream. The filling itself taste good and comforting. The portion itself is quite big, even my husband and I cannot finish it. And that drink at the back is Fire Catcher (45K) I think it’s quite a unique beverage it consist of apple, beets, ginger and cayenne pepper (what pepper?) yes, this drink taste a bit hot but it’s good though.

The hot weather outside really makes me crave for something refreshing, so I opt for The Orchard Bowl (50K), it’s a big bowl of refreshing tropical fruits like papaya, watermelon, apple, pitaya, pineapple, mango, then they also added strawberries and blueberries, topped with shredded coconut and shredded apple. Wait, there’s still more; they also add toasted nuts for the crunchiness and sweet dates for extra sweetness. Wow, it’s really a refreshing and healthy breakfast for me. Green Minded juice (45K) that accompany my meal consist of fresh green like kale and cucumber; and some apple, celery & lime to add the taste.

And for the little guy, he prefers something simple like their Kids Cheesy Toasty (25K), a tasty crunchy toast with melted cheese. Even for a kids menu, I think it has a generous portion.

For the coffee lover, make sure you try their coffee, they use the bean from Revolver coffee one of the well-known coffee roaster in Bali, with some choices of milk to add to your coffee such as: almond milk, soya milk, skim milk and the newest addition is coconut milk.

Great food, but unfortunately they just can’t get serving a whole table. Food arrived at different times and my 11 year olds order went somewhere else after 30 minutes of waiting I was told it was very busy and they asked if we still wanted to feed her? That’s Bali I have been here many times over 30 years but it is disappointing when a restaurant of the caliber still can’t get it right – you now pay GST & Service Tax on top of advertised prices – so not really that acceptable 😤
